Hello, 

Awhile back, I started digging around for the key drivers of contentment and longevity in order to better support my clients. As I scoured global research studies, I noticed two key drivers: belonging and community. 

I also reflected on how we live in a “high response mode” due to the technology that allows anyone and everyone to reach us pretty much any time. Our DNA has not changed over thousands of years. We are still wired as hunter gatherers who belong tightly within a tribe. We are not designed to live at this pace nor in an isolating, virtual world where everyone seems to live perfect lives.

Considering my own longevity, I started looking for a community group in my home, Bee Cave and, through many conversations, discovered that we not only didn’t have such a group, but we also had an identity issue in that many locals weren’t sure if they actually lived in Bee Cave! Lakeway residents know they are in Lakeway. We don’t know where we begin and end! 

We didn’t have a community group, so I thought I might try to actually create one. My father taught his four little girls to fish. I decided to go fishing for “my tribe” in Bee Cave! I chose to describe a group I would want to join and see if anyone in Bee Cave would also feel that way. Little did I know that over 60 strangers would show up to our first gathering within a few weeks after the announcement. The experience was so inspiring. The tribe showed up! I am not the only person who yearns to belong to a community. 

BeeWomen is designed to offer belonging, community and commitment. Sometimes we need moments when no one wants anything from us. Sometimes we want to let our hair down and have rich, meaningful conversations where no one is poised to judge us or compete with us. BeeWomen is here to encourage and foster meaningful friendships among the women of Bee Cave, Texas. We work together to make a difference in our small town.
